7 Tips to reducing stress

The feeling of being overwhelmed, feeling like it’s all too much, and not being able to cope. We all feel stress at some point in our lives, this could be workplace stress, stress at home, however, it’s important to recognise these feelings and act.

1. Take some time for you

We often hear people say they feel selfish taking time for themselves however this is not selfishness but self-care.

2. Talk to someone

Take the time to speak to someone you trust such as a family member or close friends and ask for support

3. Exercise

Make time to exercise, this doesn’t have to be an hour a day, it may be a ten-minute walk to clear your head and have space to think.

4. Plan and try to be organised

Leaving things to the last minute can increase stress levels and in turn make you more anxious. Use a notice board, make lists.

5. Avoid Alcohol

Alcohol can increase levels of anxiety and make things worse as it changes levels of serotonin in the brain.

6. Eat Healthily

A healthy diet can help stabilise your mood and increasing your water intake can also improve your well-being.

7. Don’t be too hard on yourself

Try and keep things in perspective, don’t set yourself such high expectations, be kind to yourself.
